How the estimate works: Qanchaga methodology
How Qanchaga estimates used phone prices: a base price, condition multipliers, a minimum floor, a ±7% range and conversion to UZS at the CBU rate.
Updated:
The Qanchaga calculator shows an approximate resale price for a used phone in Uzbekistan. Every estimate has two ingredients: a base price for the model and storage size, and a set of multipliers that describe the phone's condition. The result is shown as a range rather than a single number, in US dollars and Uzbek som. Here is exactly how it is calculated.
1. The base price
For each model and storage variant (for example, iPhone 13, 128 GB) our team sets a base market price in US dollars. It describes a phone in reference condition:
- used (not new or sealed);
- body in excellent condition;
- original, undamaged screen;
- battery health of 90% or higher;
- full kit: box and documents;
- IMEI registered;
- never repaired.
Base prices are reviewed and updated regularly by our team as the market moves. Only models with a current base price are shown in the calculator.
2. Condition multipliers
The further a phone is from the reference condition, the more its price changes. Each factor has a multiplier: 1.00 means no change, 0.93 means 7% less, and so on.
| Factor | Options and multipliers | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Body condition | excellent 1.00 · good 0.93 · average 0.85 · poor 0.70 | all phones |
| Screen | original, intact 1.00 · replaced 0.85 · broken 0.70 | all phones |
| Battery health | 90–100% 1.00 · 85–89% 0.96 · 80–84% 0.92 · below 80% 0.85 | iPhone only |
| Kit | box and documents 1.00 · phone only 0.95 | all phones |
| IMEI registration | registered 1.00 · not registered 0.85 | all phones (Uzbekistan market) |
| SIM | SIM + eSIM 1.00 · eSIM only 0.85 | iPhone only |
| Repairs (other than screen) | none 1.00 · repaired 0.90 | all phones |
These are the launch values. They are estimates, and we tune them over time as we watch how real prices behave.
The battery-health and SIM-type questions are asked only for iPhone. For other brands, the estimate uses the remaining factors.
A few notes on why these factors matter in Uzbekistan:
- IMEI registration. An unregistered phone works with a local SIM card only for a limited period before mobile service is blocked. The buyer has to spend time and money registering it, so such phones sell for less.
- eSIM only. iPhones without a physical SIM tray suit fewer buyers, which narrows demand.
- Battery is currently a factor for iPhone only: iPhone shows battery health as a percentage in Settings, while other brands don't show it the same way on every model.
3. The calculation, step by step
- All selected multipliers are multiplied together.
- Minimum floor. If the product is below 0.35, 0.35 is used instead. An estimate never drops below 35% of the base price, so that several flaws multiplied together don't produce an unrealistically low figure.
- The base price is multiplied by this combined multiplier and rounded to the nearest $5.
- Range. We take 7% below and 7% above that figure and round each end to the nearest $5 again.
- Som. Each dollar figure is converted at the official rate of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and rounded to the nearest 10,000 UZS. If no exchange rate is available at the moment, prices are shown in dollars only.
Worked example
A phone with a base price of $500: body "good" (0.93), battery 85–89% (0.96), everything else in reference condition.
- Multiplier: 0.93 × 0.96 = 0.8928
- 500 × 0.8928 = 446.4 → $445
- Lower end: 445 × 0.93 = 413.85 → $415
- Upper end: 445 × 1.07 = 476.15 → $475
Result: $415 – $475. The som figures use the Central Bank rate for that day.
When does the floor kick in? If you pick the worst option for every factor (poor body, broken screen, battery below 80%, phone only, IMEI not registered, eSIM only, repaired), the product is about 0.257, so 0.35 is used instead.
What the estimate does not cover
- colour;
- new, sealed phones (the calculator is for used phones only);
- carrier lock;
- brands and models that are not in our catalog yet;
- battery health and SIM type on phones other than iPhone (for now);
- defects not listed in the table (camera, speakers, buttons and so on), differences between cities, how urgently someone needs to sell, and bargaining.
It is not an offer
The result is an approximate estimate. It is not an offer to buy, a formal appraisal or a price guarantee. Qanchaga does not buy or sell phones. The actual price of a deal depends on negotiation, location, urgency and the defects of the specific phone.
Always check a phone yourself before buying or selling it. Our step-by-step guides on IMEI, iCloud, battery health and screen checks are available in Uzbek and Russian.
